DIY Hair Mask

Hi,

I recently saw a really interesting video on how to make a hair mask out of coconut oil and jojoba oil which I really wanted to share with you!

I was already using both kind of oils on my hair before I saw this video, but never this much and mostly not combined. But since I already had both of the oils I decided to try it out at once after seeing this vid. And guess what, it is really just as wonderful as she said in the video! I've used it twice in the meantime and the second time my hair was a lot shinier and softer than after the first time, which means it also benefits your hair on long terms. My hair didn't look as beautiful as Kayleys, but I maybe when I use it more often it will.

How to Fix Broken Lipstick

Hi,

A long time ago we made a post about how to fix your broken powders. And today I found a video of Michelle Phan that explains you how to fix your broken lipstick, so I thought it was a great idea to make a post about it too! Because isn't it super frustrating when you break your lipstick and you have to buy a new one? Well, I think it is. And it's actually so easy to repare. Here is the video that will explain it to you very well:

DIY Colorful Earplugs

Hi,

Time for another DIY post! This time it'll be about earplugs.
One of the most annoying things in life is tangled earplugs, and the main reason they tangle is because the chords are so thin. Thicker chords don't tangle that easily.
Now one way of making your earplug chords thicker is by wrapping some kind of thread or wire around it. On Pinterest I saw a lot of pictures or earplugs knotted with the Chinese Staircase knot. You might still know it, because it's one of the ways to make friendship bracelets too. But anyway, it's really easy once you know how to do it and it goes quite fast too after some practice.
You can use any kind of thread you want, even wool, and I chose to do it with the same kind of thread that's used to make bracelets.

Another tutorial we found on making your earplug chords thicker and more colorfull is this:

I haven't tried that one out yet, but I just got new earplugs, so I might try it soon.

DIY Lipgloss

Hi,

This year Maia got an amazing Christmas gift from a friend: DIY Lipgloss!
We didn't even know you could make lipgloss yourself until then, and especially not good one. But the lipgloss she got is actually as good as most other lipglosses she has. The main content is Vaseline, so it has the same texture and is equally good (if you want to know the uses of Vaseline, check out this post). As you see she coloured it pink and added an aroma to it. It doesn't give that much color to your lips, but most lipglosses are rather sublte so Maia doesn't mind.
Oh and the cute little M was made with a toothpick.

Maia hasn't got the recipe with which her friend made the lip balm, but she found a similar recipe on Pinterest. In the tutorial below they use beewax instead of Vaseline and lipstick shavings instead of pigment, so we don't know if it'll be as good. You can probably just replace the beewax in this recipe by Vaseline.

DIY: Hair Flowers

Hi,

Our favorite hair accessories are definitely flowers. You can't have enough of them :)
On WeHeartIt we found a very good tutorial on how to make them yourself.
Just like the DIY Flower Crown (we made a post about that too), you don't need a lot to make it. Actually you only, need some cute flowers and bobby pins. In the tutorials they use roses, but we think you can use any flower you want.

We really love what the girl in the tutorial did with her hair :D

DIY: Flower Crown

Hi,

We recently found a really interesting tutorial on We Heart It. It's on how to make your own flower crown!
We both really want a flower crown and we went shopping for it, but both of us haven't found a perfect one yet... They're all too full, too empty, too colorfull, not colorfull enough,... So we were really happy to find this tutorial. Now we can finally make a perfect crown ourselves!

It appears that you don't need a lot. Just wire, a headband (they made that with wire too in the tutorial), something to cut wire with and a lot of cute flowers!
It seems to be very easy to do! Here's the tutorial:

You can heart this tutorial on our We Heart It page! :)

Now we don't know were to buy these flowers, so we haven't made one yet.. :s But we probably will!

Maia's Loom Bands

Hi,

In our post about Loom Bands we promised you that Maia would post about the ones she made when she came back from vacation, but she kind of forgot about that... So sorry, but still here they are:

She started with the easiest way to make them. We didn't post a tutorial about how to make this kind of bracelets in our previous post, but it's not difficult at all. You just fold one elastic double and put another one through it, than you fold that one double and so on.

Next she tries the fishtail bracelet. Altough that's not that difficult to make, these are her favorites. As you see she made three of them. And this last one is glow-in-the-dark. :D
And then suddenly she became an expert. No just kidding, this is one a friend made for her. :) It's really beautiful, but it's probably also really difficult to make.. :o

That's all! She became bored of it a little soon, that's why she didn't make that many. :) Also, they're not such good quality, because some broke already! :o They're from the real Loom Bands-brand, but still..

Loom Bands

Hi,

You've probably already seen the trend Loom Bands, the small elastics were you can make bracelets out of. They became a huge trend and are also very fun to make: perfect when you've got nothing to do this summer.
First we thought it was a little childish, but literally everybody has them! Also a lot of celebs fell in love with them for excample Kate Middleton (as you see in the picture above), Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles.

And if you've already have some looms but don't know how to get started, here are some video's that can be helpfull:

This first video is on how to make a normal fishtail bracelet, wich is very easy and not that difficult. The video is not such good quality, but it's explained very well and that's what matters the most.

This one is on haw to make a hexafishtail bracelet. It's way more difficult but it looks really cool.

This one looks really special! It's a dragon tail-bracelet and it's not that difficult to make. Also everyone has got a fork, you don't need anything special to make this.

Maia has bought a packet of looms too, but she hasn't made one yet (she's going to take them on vacation with her) but we'll post about it when she's made some. She bought glow-in-the-dark ones by the way. :)
She found hers in a toy store, but also Claire's sells them and you can find a lot on internet too.

DIY: Pusheen Tote Bag

Hi,

Wooow, it's been long since we made a DIY-post :o So here is one! In this post we'll teach you how to make your own Pusheen tote bag (or actually how to paint on a tote bag in general).

First of all, if you don't know Pusheen check out our post about him. Oh he's such a cutie :D In that post we told you there is a Pusheen webstore on wich you can buy a lot of cute stuff, but Maiadecided to make something of her own.

First thing to do is to buy a blank tote bag. These aren't that difficult to find, just go to some kind of craft store and you'll probably find one. It doesn't really need to be a white one, but keep in mind that the color of the tote bag must go with the color of your painting.

Next you have to choose something to put on it. Remember that you might want to choose something that's not complex, because painting on a fabric is even more difficult than painting in general.. That's by the way why Pusheen is an excellent choice: he's drawn very simply but still super cute. You can also draw another cartoon caracter, like the ones from Adventure Time or Bravest Warriors for excample, because they are also drawn very simply. Another idea is the logo of your favorite band (look for inspiration at our band tees post) or maybe the logo of your favorite super hero (like the S of Superman). Or (if your a little better at painting) you can try to remake a bag from My Other Bag (if you don't know the brand, check out our post about it) And if we haven't inspired you enough now, you can also search on WeHeartIt for more inspiration. Or of course, you can try to copy Maia's drawing of Pusheen:

Now you have to buy the fabric paint. Again, it's not that hard to find, just go to that craft store again ;)

Don't immediatly start painting, but make a scetch first. You can practice a few times on paper, until you think you can do it without needing to erase it, than you can draw it with a pencil on the tote bag (keep in mind that you can't easily use an eraser on a tote bag, so the practicing on paper is kind of neccessery.).
Before you start painting you need to put a paper or something inside so the paint won't go through the backside of the tote bag. Ok, now you can start painting! :) Make sure not to put a too big layer of paint on it, because then it won't dry that fast.

When your sure it's dry you can outline your painting with a textile marker (like Maia did). But you can also just leave your painting as it is, if you think it's better like that.

Before you use it, you should iron it (inside out of course) baceause otherwise the paint might go off when your bag gets wet.

Tadaa you're ready! Don't you feel like a real artist now, with your hand-painted tote bag? :p Now the only thing that's left to do is show it of and make everyone jealous!

They've got a couple of lovely Halloween items in Six including this ghost-brooch wich costs €3.95.

Another Six-Halloween piece is this eyecatching bracelet/ring wich you can buy for €8.95.
Rock Skull Stacking Set
More skull rings can be found at Accessorize for €12.90.
3 Pack Halloween Googly Eye Studs
Aaah, they're just adorable, aren't they? :) Shop these at Claire's for €4.99.

This is definitely the prettiest piece of jewelry in this post! These beautiful earrings also come from Claire's and cost €4.99.

You can also, like we saw on WeHeartIt, paint something cute/scary on your nails! We selected some of pretty nail designs wich are easy to make:

Credit to @liamscruff || IG💜

This can't be so difficult! :) And you only need black and white.

A Garota Esmaltada | Nail Art: Machucados (Especial Halloween) | via Tumblr

Wow, this is really scary... :o Here's a tutorial on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBpZ0Pfwdl8 But an easier way to do it is to first put a layer or red polish on your nails and than put on the pink and make the gaps.

♥ DOPE Beauty ♥

We think this pretty easy to do and it's actually also the one we like the most.

My candy corn nails!

And if you'd rather have cute than scary nails you should go for candycorn! :D We recommend to use tape to make straight lines.

And if you're a bit too clumsy too do such nail-art yourself, you can go buy these cute nail wraps for €8 in Topshop.

Have a happy Halloween, everybody!

Jewelry Tree

Hi!

We're sure many of you have a lot of yewelry and so do we and that's a lot of fun, but we're do you keep all these things? You can put it all together in a box of course, but they easily entangled and sometimes you spent a lot of time trying to get that one necklace out of it.
Another, better option is a jewelry tree. You've probably seen them before, it's a little tree out of wood or iron were you can put on your jewelry. It's really easy and nothing gets tangled! Thereby it's not even so excpensive. This is the one Maia got from Casa and it was about €5, so not much at all.

You can buy them at a lot more shops or you can even make one yourself. There are a lot of tutorials to make one! Our favorite tutorial is this one: http://blog.swell.com/diy-jewlery-tree. You really don't need a lot to make this one, so it's cheap, easy and really really pretty!

Nail Art: Funny Fox

Naamloos

Hi!

Here's another nail art design from Maia! This time it isn't a tutorial with pictures but it's very easy to make, so don't worry, you'll understand it! ;)

Step 1: Put on a base coat. This is very important because it'll prevent your nails from turning yellowish because of the coloured nail polish.

Step 2: Put on orange or brown nailpolish. Make sure your nails are totally dry before continuing with the next step.

Step 3: Make a french manicure on all your nails except your little finger. For those who don't know what a french manicure is: it means that you paint the tops of your nails white.

Step 4: Now gradient your little finger from white to orange with a sponge. And for those who don't know how to do that we searched for a tutorial on WeHeartIt:

pretty pinkish nails

Step 5: Draw two green or blue (or whatever eye-color you like) on your thumb as eyes for your fox. You can do this with a toothpick (Maia  always uses a toothpick and it works perfectly) or you can a dotting tool. This is something you can buy or make yourself. Here's a very easy tutorial from Cutepolish on making dotting tools:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9Y4aYbtVYg

Step 6: Draw black paws on index finger and ring finger also using a toothpick or dotting tool.

Step 7: Make two very smal black dots in the eyes you made in step 5 Also made a small black dot in the middle of the white nail polish as a nose.

Step 8: Now you have to draw the ears and wiskers with a toothpick or a striper. You can buy a striper or make one with this Cutepolish tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyWVfQVMCN8&feature=youtu.be

Step 9: The only thing left to do now is applying a top coat so it stays longer.

Et voila! Here's your cute little fox! Easy, huh!

DIY: Mockingjay Pin

IMG_1060 IMG_1059

Hi!

We don't have to wait much for the second film from The Hunger Games to be in the cinema! This November we will finally know what happens to Katniss and Peeta after they've won The Hunger Games (exept for those who read the book, they know already :p ). I think we are all fans of the amazing first movie and also of Katniss' Mockingjay Pin. This pin is the perfect way to show everyone how much you love this movie! Maia has got one form claire's for €6.95 but ofcourse you can buy them at Etsy.com too (not only pins, but also bracelets, necklaces,...). Another option is to make one yourself. On youtube you find a lot of tutorials to make them from paper or clay, but we've tried out one for wich you only need the ring of a waterbottle, a needle or toothpick, gold nailpolish, paper, a pencil and a hot glue gun. So this will not cost a lot of money or take a lot of time! Here's the tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry4rqwAY0Lg And here's our creation:

Cute, isn't it! Do you have a mockingjay pin? Were did you bought it or how did you made it? Let us know!

DIY: Bun maker

Hi!

One of our fist posts was a donut bun tutorial, but we realised there are a lot of people who don't have a bun maker. Of course you can buy one (H&M, Claire's, Kruitvat, ...) but we know a cheaper way: make it yourself! It's very easy and the only thing you'll need is an old sock. All you have to do is cut of the tip of the sock and roll it. You'll have the exact same shape as a bun maker!

We found the tutorial for it on youtube. Instead of the hair clip she's using, we used a regular snap clip, and it also worked, so you can choose. :)

DIY Cute Animal Purse

Hi!

In Accesorize we saw a really cute bag! It's pretty, original and an eye-catcher!
This is the cute bag!
This is the cute bag!
Unfortunately it costs €25... Maybe a little expecive for a smal bag. But not every beautiful thing has to be expensive! With an old leather handbag and some lace you can make your own cute animal bag or purse. It's easy and it doesn't matter if you can't sew! Here's the tutorial. We immediately fell in love with the cute purse on the tutorial and the bag from Accesoirize so we decided to make our own cute animal bag!
Here it is! Isn't he cute? <3

If you make you're own, don't forget to send us a picture!
