Lookbook: Our First Day of School Look

Hi,

Only a few days until the first day of school! We're both not looking forward to it, but a great outfit can brighten up your day a lot! And admit it, wether you need to make a good first impression or not, looks are important. Since it's pretty hard to pick out a perfect first schoolday look, we want to inspire you with our looks!

Maia's Look:

I decided to go for a rather casual-chic look. I wanted to wear my new shirt that I got from Mango. I think it looks very chic and boho. The weather isn't going to be that good, but I hope this'll be warm enough. I'm going to combine it with my leggings from Zara. These also look chic, but are very comfortable at the same time, and I think that's a very important part of your first schoolday look. Also I like the combination of the loose shirt and tight pants. To make it all look a bit more casual, I'll wear my vintage Marco Polo sneakers. It was a very hard decision what shoes to wear with this outfit, but since these are my favorite shoes at the moment, that seemed like a good choice to me. I'll have to wash them a little before tuesday though... Until last week they were never worn and they already look like this :o

As for a schoolbag I'm going to take my new bag from Primark with me. I'm not sure all my school stuff fits into it, but I'm pretty sure it won't be such a drama when I don't have everything with me on the first day.

Femke's look:

I chose to wear this very colourful and summery outfit on the first day of school. For me, chosing my outfit for the first schoolday is always a struggle. Because you want to stand out (but not to much) and you basically want to impress all the new people and all the people you haven't seen in a while.
This year I had no idea what I was going to wear, until yesterday: I went shopping in Antwerp and found this super cute sweater covered with pineapples in H&M and I knew I had to wear this sweater on the first day of school. The weather isn't going to be great, but also not that bad. This sweater is perfect for a colder summerday. The bright colours make me stand out and also make me look a lot more tanned than I actually am (which is what we all want after the summer holidays!).
Since the weather isn't going to be very warm, I chose to wear my highwaisted jeans of Pull & Bear with this outfit. They are bright bleu, which makes this look again a lot brighter and summery.
And for shoes I am going to wear these colourful striped espadrilles I bought in Forever 21. They tie the whole look together.
This outfit sounds very thought-through, but it doesn't look like it which is what I'm all about!

For jewellery I went for my standard ring collection. I love wearing lots of rings and I think this little collection looks great together.
I also chose to wear a pair of earrings I once bought in H&M. They are a bit more chic looking and make this outfit less childish and more grown-up-looking. Not that they make that huge difference, but still...

Since in my school we don't actually have lessons yet on the first day of the year, I don't need to bring a huge backpack, so I'm just going to bring my Longchamp backpack with me. This wouldn't fit all my schoolstuff, but it does fit all I need for that day, so it's perfect. I love this backpack and I bring it almost everywhere with me. I think it looks very hipster-like and cute, so I thought it would look great with this outfit aswell.

How To Cleanse Your Face The Right Way

Hi,

If you want a healthy looking skin, the most important this to do is wash your face at least twice a day. Just pledging some water in your face won't help a lot though. Recently Vogue made a video on how to cleanse. It's very helpful and I assume it will have a great effect over time too.

Tanya Burr Cosmetics Launched Some New Products

Hi,

Tanya Burr Cosmetics recently launched some new products. It's pretty affortable, so it's perfect for those who are on a budget. I thought this was the perfect time to let you all know this, since the first day of school is around the corner and most of us students aren't that rich, but still like to look great (esspecially on the first day of school!).

Tanya Burr launched a new packaging for her products which looks super cute, with lots of gold, pink and hearts. The new products she launched are a few nail polishes, lip glosses, eye palettes and a brow palette. And like I already mentioned, it's all pretty affortable.

I'm a huge fan of Tanya Burr, she isn't only great at make up tutorials, but she also has a very sweet and bubbly caracter! I really want to try out her products, unfortunately they are only avaible in Superdrug, which we don't have here in Belgium. But you can buy them on Feelunique.com as well! If I give them a go, you certainly can expect a review!

Spotted: Selena Gomez

Hi,

Selena Gomez is already transformation from summer to fall. This is the perfect combination of a summery, yet fall-like look. The weather in Belgium isn't that great anymore either, so it's the perfect time to think about changing into more fall-like outfits.

She is wearing this grey cropped sweater with this pleated skirt from Topshop(!).  Love this look, it's still casual, but has this chic vibe to it. Her sandals from Kurt Geiger finish of the look perfectly and make it a bit more summer appropriate. Also her sunglasses give this outfit a summery twist. Her colour choices are more fall-like, since we tend to wear more colorful things in the summer.

Really like this look! Selena is inspiring us all to go chic into fall.

How To Protect Your Hair While Swimming

Hi,

You've probably went swimming a few times this summer, and you may have also noticed what effect it had on your hair. Every year my hair's all dried out when I come back from vacation, because of both the sun and the swimming pools. So this year I did some research on how to protect my hair. The first thing they always tell you is to wear a cap, but I think that isn't worth it, haha! Anyways, here are some other tips I came over.

Before you go swimming you can protect your hair by braiding it. This is mainly because it's practical and your hair won't tangle, but it also exposes your hair less to the chlorine. Ponytails or buns are okay too, but braids are actually healthier for your hair, because it can't cause any breakage. Then wet your hair with water without any chlorine (or salt). This way the chemicals will soak in less. Just make it wet though, because when you use shampoo you will strip off the natural oils in your hair which form a barrier against the chemicals. Instead use some extra oils, like coconut and jojoba oil, on the tips of your hair. You could also use a leave-in conditioner, but personally I prefer the oils.

When your done swimming, the first thing you should do is wash your hair. This time you can use shampoo and preferingly a nourishing one. Also don't forget conditioner! When you comb your hair, use a wide one in wood or with natural hairs. This won't cause your hair to break and prevent your hair from frizzyness.

If tried out most of these things when I went swimming last week and the week before and I must say that my hair is less dry this year then it was other years. I don't know if it's only because of these few things, but they probably have something to do with it too.
Hope you can keep your hair healthy too this summer!

How to Look Fashionable in your Uniform

Hi,

Since the first school day is approaching, I thought this post was appropriate. I've went to schools before where we had no choice but wear a uniform and this summer I worked in a supermarket where I also had to wear a uniform. And it's not fun, not if you're like me and like to express yourself through fashion. Wearing a uniform always makes me feel ugly and not myself. But I have some tips to still look fabulous in your uniform!

First of all: what kind of uniform do you need to wear? Is it just a shirt? With maybe some shoes aswell? Or is it a whole outfit? If you just need to wear a few pieces, you can choose the last pieces to complete your outfit and make it still look fashionable. If you, for example, just have a shirt you can go crazy with cool pants and skirts. Or in the winter you can maybe wear fabulous coats and jackets, which will make you look amazing!

It kind of sucks if you need to wear a whole outfit though, but something I always do is express myself with some outstanding and beautiful jewellery! There aren't many places with a dresscode for jewellery. So instead of buying lots of clothes you can almost never wear during the schoolyear, invest in lots of jewellery. People will see the effort you put in your look, even if you're wearing a uniform. And this is the perfect way to make yourself look a bit more unique.

Wearing a uniform doesn't meen you can't look pretty. Make sure you still look fresh and clean. Try to look your best and everyone will forget you're wearing an ugly uniform! Make up isn't allowed in all schools, but just a little bit of concealer under your eyes will make you look a lot more awake and no one will notice the little bit of make up you're wearing.

Another thing most school won't have rules about is your hair, so try out some special and cute hairstyles. You will deffinitely stand out in your uniform now! Or wear some cute hair accessoires. I think wearing a bow in your hair with a school uniform can look very cute.

If nail polish is allowed you can try out beautiful nail art. If you can't wear nail polish at your school, make sure your nails still look clean and healthy. Looking fresh and clean, like I already mentioned, is a must!

Hopefully these tips were a bit helpful for you. And remember you can make everything look great on you if you really want it to!

Maia's Lookbook: Summer Look

Hi,

Today it was pretty hot in Belgium, so I could finally wear some of my summer clothes!

My mom recently gave me a new skirt (it's been hers and before that it was my grandmother's) and I couldn't wait to wear it. I really adore the cute flower pattern! Usually I'm not that into floral prints, but there's just something really special about this one. I couldn't tell what exactly, but I just think it's really nice.
The skirt is high waisted so I wore my crop top with it. You can't really see it on the picture but it's a sleeveless shirt with a knot I got from New Look last year. It's a shirt I don't wear a lot, because I think it's very hard to combine. But it was the perfect color and style to go with my vintage skirt. It makes it look a bit more modern, but still chic.
Since it's a long skirt I tought it would be best to combine it with my slippers. They're kinda old and worn out, but they were just the right color, so for one time that didn't really matter. Also, I really can't handle closed shoes when it's this hot!
I didn't wear any jewelry today, party because I thought my look was already complete and partly because I wasn't going anywhere today anyway.

Hope I inspired you with my summer look!

xoxo

Treaclemoon That Vanilla Moment Body Scrub

Hi,

One of the biggest supermarkets in the Netherlands is Albert Heijn. In Belgium they have a few of them too and I love going there, because they sell some things you can't find here in Belgium. Just as this new brand I recently discovered in an Albert Heijn: Treaclemoon. In Belgium they do sell a brand called 'I love...' which is very much like this one. I already bought and reviewed one of their products. I remember that when I first saw it, it reminded me of this other brand, but looked a lot cheaper in its packaging. Now I know it's this brand it reminded me of and I'm so happy I finally found it! And I'm going to be honest with you: this brand is my new obsession!

Lets first take a moment to appreciate the company Treaclemoon itself. First of all they don't test on animals and I'm all about that! Another thing I love about them is the thought they put in their products. Every scent is named a lot more fun than just the name of the scent, like this one: 'that vanilla moment', or some of their other scents: 'the raspberry kiss', 'warm apple pie hugs', 'her lavender story', ... And every scent also has a text on the packaging. Who doesn't like to read something in the shower?! This one says: 'My moment of sweet calm... Just to think with carefree abandon about... Maybe I won't tell you she said shyly some things are not for sharing.' How cute is that?! And so true, because this product makes me feel really calm aswell. There are also other cute things written on the packaging like: 'Not suitable for gnomes!'. What I also really love about Treaclemoon is that they sell their products for a very reasonable price.

Now lets talk about this amazing scrub! The scent is like heaven. It comes on the second place of my best smelling products ever (with on the first place still the Rituals Magic Touch Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk Body Cream). It smells like cookie dough. I do have to admit (and this is kind of embarrassing) even though it has a lovely reminding on the packaging not to, I ate a little tiny bit of this product (which I don't recommend, don't try this at home!) and it tasts kind of nice too. But let's not do that again!

It does kind of annoy me that the only other 'That Vanilla Moment'-product in their range is a shower gel. I wish they had a body lotion as well, since that's the last product I use in my little shower-routine and also is the scent that stays on my skin. But well, there isn't anything I can do about this except hoping they one day will create a body lotion as well...

The scrub itself is very nice too. It has soft texture, which I like because it allows me to use it more than just once a week and is also grear for people with a sensitive skin!

So much love for this product! Can't wait to try other product of this lovely brand!

Spotted: Alexa Chung

Hi,

This week Alexa Chung was spotted in this casual, but inspiring outfit.
She keeps it very simple with an oversized shirt tucked in het white fitting jeans.
I think it always looks very chic and feminin to go out all in white, and Alexa Chung proves this again. The key to a perfect monochrome outfit is details in other, not too outstanding, colors. Alexa, for example, chose to wear these cute black flats and a simple gold bracelet. Both aren't too eye catching, but make the outfit look a bit more special.

Tangle Teezer Professional Detangling Brush

Hi,

In Belgium tangle teezers aren't that popular and they are pretty hard to find. But when I saw them in Urban Outfitters, I really wanted to buy one and see what the hype was all about.

My first impression wasn't that great, because it looks kind of cheap and it also feels very light and cheap. So that was dissapointing... But I fell in love with it when I started brushing my hair, it's just so different and fun to use. And it gets rid of your knots quit easily.

Another thing I like about it is that it's small which makes it very easy to take around with you. And who doesn't always need to have a brush around for some hair emergencies? ;) The fact that it's light is positive here aswell.

What I was scared about is if it would my make my hair frizzy. And it does... But that happens with almost every brush I use on my hair. Brushing my hair always makes it very poofy. Except with this brush:

This is a brush I once got a Kruidvat (a Dutch drugstore). It was very cheap, but it's made out of a good quality. The bristles are natural and very soft. It doesn't really help with detangling knots (so that's why I need a second brush), but it makes my hair non-frizzy and very shiny. So this is kind of my styling brush. I think any soft, natural brush will get kind of the same effect, it doesn't necessarilly need to be this particular brush. And I also love using this brush, because it reminds me of princesses. Not that it looks like a princess brush, but princesses in disney films always use these kind of brushes.

I did expect more from the looks of the tangle teezer. That was actually the main reason why I wanted one: it looks so cool and unique. Well, it still looks great from a little distance and on pictures it actually does too. I do really like everything else from it: how it's easy to carry around and how good it detangles my hair. It's a pitty that it doesn't have the same benifits as my natural, soft brush too, but I don't really mind using both.

Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturiser Aloe Soothe

Hi,

I already reviewed the Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturizer in the cacao fragrance. I loved that product so much that I wanted to try out one of their other scents. So I went for the aloe one.

The product itself is exactly the same as the cacao one. It is very liquid, which makes you use less and also feels a lot fresher than a normal body lotion. And again I love that it's in a spray bottle, which is just so much fun to apply!

But I'm not such a fan of its scent. I loved the scent of the cacao one, because I'm a chocaholic and I don't mind smelling like chocolate the whole day. But this scent is kind of dissapointing for me, because it smells earthy which I don't really like. I thought I would love the scent of aloe vera, but apparently I don't... If you do though I really recommend this moisturizer, because it's an amazing product!

How To Make Your Lashes Look Fuller

Hi,

A great way to make your lasher look a bit longer and fuller is by aplying your mascara in a flared way. It makes your eyes look wider and of course it prevents your lashes from sticking together. Here's the great tutorial I found on how to flare your lashes:

Spotted: Kendall Jenner

Hi,

Kendall Jenner (who is always looking put-together) was spotted in this very chic, all-white jumpsuit. Or at least I think it's a jumpsuit, because the pants are so oversized, it's almost hard to tell. But who cares, because she looks amazing!

She didn't choose to wear lots of accessoires with this look, but the accessoires she is wearing are again all white. It's hard to pull of a whole white outfit or even a whole black outfit, but Kendall proves that it can totally work!

Head & Shoulders Smooth and Silky Shampoo

Hi,

I have experienced dandruff my intire life. It comes and goes with fazes. It's something I wanted a solution for a long time now. I already tried Pantene's Anti-dandruff shampoo, which I wasn't too glad about. So I thought: why not try a product of Head & Shoulders? Because this is basically the most popular anti-dandruff brand.

I chose to buy the Smooth and Silky shampoo. This is for dry and frizzy hair, which is my hairtype. I'm not super fond about its smell, it's not bad or anything, but it's not special either. This shampoo doesn't make any wonders on my hair itself. It didn't make it less frizzy or less dry. But it did help with my dandruff a lot! I use it once in a while and I haven't experienced dandruff since.

So I really recommend it to anyone who struggles with dandruff. I wouldn't use it as my only shampoo, because it doesn't have any benifits besides that it makes my dandruff go. But I do think it's a great product to have in your house and use once in a while.

Dove Go Fresh Nourishing Lotion

Hi,

I already reviewed the Dove Go Fresh body wash a long time ago. And I still love using that product up to this day, especially in the summertime. It really does make you feel very fresh, which I never expected it to do. I also use the deodorant version of it now, which I really like aswell. But recently I bought the nourshing lotion too.

If you've been following us for a while, you know my love for Dove's products. But I actually never used their bodylotions before, because they're basically too expensive for me. This bottle normally costs something like € 7, which I know is not such a crazy price, but I go through bodylotions so quickly, which makes buying this on a regular basis expensive. But when I recently went to the Action (a shop in Belgium where they sell a large variation of stuff for a very cheap price) I found Dove's bodylotions for only € 1,99. Isn't that crazy?! So I couldn't resist and bought a few of them. And since I really liked my Go Fresh body wash and deodorant, I really wanted to try the bodylotion aswell.

It's in the same scent as the other products I have from this range, which is pomegranate and lemon verbena. It smells amazing and really fresh.

I have to admit that it also feels very fresh for a body lotion. Most body lotions feel sticky, but this one doesn't leave a sticky feeling at all. I wouldn't say it feels as fresh as the body wash, but it's still a very nice body lotion to use in the summer time.

I really recommend it. Besides the amazing smell and the fresh feeling, it also leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturized.

Spotted: Elle MacPherson

Hi,

Bohemian-like outfits are totally back. A trend model and actress Elle MacPherson seems to have picked up this trend.
She was spotted wearing this faboulous black dress while shopping. It's a beautiful dress and she looks very good with it too. Split dresses make you look taller and this compensates with her flat sandals.
I'm really obsessed with her sandals by the way. I've always wanted this kind of sandals and she just seems to have the perfect pair.. Jealous!
As for accessories she picked out a hat and sunglasses. This makes her outfit look a bit more chic.
Also, notice how she has that tortoise shell hair color we were talking about last week!

Flower Crowns

flowers

Hi,

Today I thought it was fun to wright a post like back in the old days and show you what the market has to offer lately on a specific trend. The trend I'm going to work with today is flower crowns, since it's still the festival season. I recently made a post called Bohemian Festival Hairstyles and flower crowns are a huge thing on festivals! One of my favourite things to do is make flower crowns out of real daisies, but I don't own any non-real flower crowns that will last forever. And I really want one for the festival I'm going to attend in september. So I was already browsing on the internet for a perfect flower crown for myself, so I thought why not make a post out of this?

Enough rambling now... Here are the beautiful flower crowns I found:

Sophie Poppy Rose Floral Crown
Wow, the first crown I found is already pretty perfect. But a bit too big and outstanding maybe... But if you dare to wear this beautiful flower crown, then go for it girl! You can buy it at Boohoo for € 9,00.
Image 1 of Monki Big Floral Hair Garland
I really like this one aswell. It's from a brand called Monki, but I found it on Asos for € 8,22.
Image 1 of Johnny Loves Rosie Jeni Floral Garland
Another flower crown from Asos, this time from a brand called Johnny Loves Rosie. This one is a little more expensive though... It costs € 32,88. I wouldn't give this amount of money to a flower crown, but if you don't mind spending your money like that than this might be a flower crown for you. And I have to admit this is a very pretty one, so if I would be a little more rich I would definitely buy it!
At Urban Outfitters I found this gorgeous flower crown for € 25,00, which is unfortunately again kind of expensive...
This one is a little more subtle than the others, but still really pretty (or that's what I think). It's from H&M and costs only € 4,99. There are a few other colours that look very cute too.
Another one from H&M. This one is a little bit more outstanding and also a little bit more expensive: € 9,99. But it's still worth its price!

I'm kind of dissapointed actually, because there wasn't much choice. But I still hope I helped with finding your perfect flower crown! At least you know where to look now!

Shoplog: July Shopping

Hi,

Throughout July I've been collecting bits and pieces from several shops. Today I'm going to share the things I bought with you!

When I recently went for a quick shop in Pull & Bear I saw these gorgeous sunglasses and I just couldn't leave them behind. They weren't that expensive either, they cost something like € 10. First of all I love the pattern and especially the colours of these sunglasses. But I also just adore its shape. Round sunglasses look the best on me, but I love the twist on a normal round shape that these glasses have. It's round with a cat eye look to it. And the quality seems pretty good too. So I'm very happy with them!

If you want to know which sunglasses fit your face the best, we have a post on that too.

In Primark I got these 9 pairs of earrings for only € 2,50. I've been wearing little earrings a lot lately, because they aren't to outstanding, but they still look very cute and they go with almost everything. I wanted to expand my little-earrings-collection and I loved this set of little earrings, so I got them and I'm very happy with them now! They are all so pretty!

The only thing I bougt this July in the sales are these gorgeous lace espadrilles from Subdued. I know it's kind of bad I didn't buy anything else in the sales, but I just didn't find anything I liked... I'm happy with these espadrilles though! They were 50% off, which made them € 9,50.

This beautiful shirt was a gift that I recently got from my grandmother. It's from Zara. I love its flowyness and the lace above. I've been looking for a shirt like this for a long time now, so I'm very happy I got this one, it's just perfect! I don't remember the exact price of this shirt, but it was something between € 30 and € 40.

Speaking of gifts, my grandmother also gave me this dress from Brandy Melville. Since I follow Brandy Melville on Instagram, I had my eyes on this dress for a while. I love its print and cut. But most of all I love its back:

Isn't that gorgeous?! It is always I struggle to put it on though... I always get tangled in the straps. But I still love it! And I know I'm going to wear it lots this summer! It cost € 38.

In Brandy Melville I also got myself this shirt and I'm obsessed with it! I've been looking for a fun striped shirt for a while and this is perfectly the thing I had in mind. It was € 18.

Last but not least I got this cardigan in Brandy Melville for € 36. I've also been looking for this type of cardigan for a while. Since I'm a petite girl, cardigans tend to be a little bit to big on me. But this one is perfect! Even though it's still quit oversized, but this is the kind of oversized that looks good if you know what I mean.

I do get that almost my complete closet is Brandy Melville now... But I just love their fabrics and basically their style. And it's always pleasure to shop there, since the decoration in their shops is so pretty and cozy! If you want to see my last shoplog of Brandy Melville click here.

Tortoiseshell Hair

tortise shell hair the beauty department

Hi,

Altough I never color my hair I couldn't help noticing this beautiful trend in hair coloring this summer: the tortoiseshell hair. Since ombre has been around for way too long now, the new trend is a variation on it. There's still a darker color at the root, combined with golden highlights at the ends, but the difference is that the change between these colors is less 'drastic'. There isn't a real line between the dark and the light color, which was the thing I didn't like about the ombre technique. It also uses more than one shade of blonde or light brown, so that it looks more like your hair has been lightened by the sun. The difference with normal highlights is that this hairstyle still leaves all of your roots in your natural hair color while the lighter colors start in about the middle of your hair, but all at another lenght to avoid that kind of line you have with ombre.
I prefer this to the previous ombre trend, because it gives your hair this natural, healthy look. It's also a bit complex though and I've also seen some people who did it all wrong.. But I think if you let your hairdresser try it for you, there isn't a lot of change you go wrong with it.
