Workout

On The Way To The Fashionland!

Hi,

Last week we made a whole post about running. And just like many people have the resolution of going running more often many people also have the resolution of doing workouts. Same as with running, we're sure many of these people give up too soon. So again we'll try to help!

It can of course help to follow a workout programs or challenges, because they'll make you feel more obligated to do it every day. But then you need to have time every day and it are often longer workouts, so you can also just search out some shorter workouts yourself, wich you can combine to make some kind of week schedule. For example, Maia looked for 5 different workouts that focus on different muscles so that she can combine it with her running program without making it all too heavy.
The workouts she's found are these:

2 Minute Workout

Five Minute Plank Workout

The Scientific 7-Minute Workout Doesn't Require Equipment | Cool Material

6-Min-Sexy-Arms

6-Min-Sexy-Little-Waist Final

As you see they're all rather short, but still very effective. The first two are from Neila Rey, where Maia has also got her running programs from. The third one she found on We Heart It. She read later that it's some kind of very effective scientific workout that only takes 7 minutes. The last two are from Blogilates and they're also explained in YouTube video's.

If you want to follow a real workout schedule, we reccomend the challenges and programs from Neila Rey, which you can find on her website. The challenges are less intensive then the workouts and will also take less time.
Another workout scheldule, which Maia's planning on doing when she finally has some more time, is this one:

beginners 2b-1

As you can see it focusses on different body parts but also on the whole body. We like how everything's explained in video's, so that's it's very easy to follow.

Femke does daily a short workout. Again she doesn't follow any kinds of special workouts or schedules. But she did at first and now she knows which exercices work out the best for her. Maybe you'll notice that soon too. So now she has this daily routine that contains exercices for different body parts. And once a week she will do a longer one, with other exercices she nows.

Believe in yourself, you can do it!

Barbara Hofmann Eyelash Curler

Hi,

My latest new beauty item is this eyelash curler from Barbara Hofman.
Not that many people use lash curlers, but I truly recommend it. It doesn't take that much time to do and it makes your eyelashes immediately look way more beautiful.

This one is really comfortable to work with and very easy to use. It can capture all my lashes at ones, because it's only very slightly curved. This also means you can get pretty close to the lash line.
It's not a very 'strong' one but I think it has a very nice effect to my eyelashes.

This is the first eyelash curler I ever had, so it's not like I can compare it to another one, but I think this is a pretty good one.
It was really inexpensive by the way, wich was one of the main reasons I bought it. Now I know that I couldn't miss an eyelash curler, I might try out a more expensive one too. :)

Nails to Impress Boys

Hi,

I already made two post about how to impress boys. One with your makeup and the other one with your hair. But today I'm going to talk about nails.

To be honest, boys don't like long nails. They think it looks very creepy and witch-like. But this doesn't mean boys prefer super short nails. So to impress boys you should find the perfect balance and go for medium sized nails. With this I mean that you can still see than white edge, but your nails aren't really long anymore. Also it's very important that your nails all have the same length, this looks a loth healthier. So make sure your nails don't break, take good care of them!

A square or pointed nail shape is again one of these things boys don't like. So if you really want to impress boys, just make the edges of your nails a bit more round.

Don't go for any crazy nail polish colors to impress boys, because it doesn't really impress them. Instead go for a nailwhitener, this is a clear nail polish that leaves your nails looking very healthy and french-manicure-like. If you still prefer to wear a color on your nails, go for soft pink shades, nude shades or for a more sexy look: red.

With a cute nail art you can't impress boys either... They think this looks childish and they aren't really impressed with this piece of art you have on your nails. If you do want to wear a nail art, than go for modern and abstract looks. Like on these pictures:

...

With these kind of nail arts you will impress boys. They think it looks very cool. Or an ombre nail art design will impress them too.

Hopefully you're able to impress a cute boy with your nails now!

Spotted: Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth Hi,

Today I saw this picture of Kate Bosworth in a lovely outfit.
I especially love her coat, which is from J Mende. Faux-fur coats are really in fashion and this one has the perfect shape and lenght. She combined it with over-knee black boots and a black clutch.
If you want to look chic, it's always a good idea to go for a black and white look. And especially if you combine it with eye-catching jewelry like Kate Bosworth did.

Hair to Impress Boys

Hi,

Last week I made a post about how to impress boys with your makeup. So I thought today was the perfect time to make a post about how to impress boys with your hair. Because like I already said in the last post: Valentine is coming up and you want to look all cute to impress the boys around you!

If you use this post for a date, then don't go for something too special. Because you don't want to look like you put to much effort in your look. As long as your hair looks natural and clean you're good to go! But if you still want to go for a bit more special for your date, than you should go for a very loose and romantic look. Loose, bouncy curls and loose, big braids are the things you're looking for!

If you really want to impress boys at school, your work place or just outside, than you can go for some more outstanding looks. With this I don't mean that you should dye your hair pink. I mean that you can try difficult and special hairstyles out. In this way you will stand out a lot more and boys will notice you a lot easier. But still go for the loose and romantic look. Boys don't like tight looks, because this will make you look a lot more childish. You can wear different kinds of braided hairstyles. There are so many, so you have many options! And one day you can go for something a bit more nautral than the other day. Here are some hairstyles you can try out:

I hope you get lots of compliments by lovely boys on your hair now!

Femke's Lookbook: A Snowy Look

Hi,

Since it was snowing yesterday here in Belgium, I thought it was appropriate to wear one of my christmas sweaters again. I think you can wear your christmas sweaters whole winter long, as long as there are no reindeers or christmas trees on it. So here is the snowy look I'm wearing today:

My christmas sweater is this super cute one that I bought in New Look and I'm obsessed with it. In the winter everyone likes to wear darker colors, so I really like to change it up with a bright red sweater like this one. Just like in my last lookbook, I chose to wear these jeans of H&M. I also love the bright blue color of them and it kind of is the same color as the hats of the little snowmans on my sweater, I love to match little details like these. And these jeans in combination with my sweater make this look very fresh and colorful.

For shoes I chose to wear these black boots. They are from a brand calles Eye, which to be honest I never heard of before. I bought them last year in Torfs, a Belgium footwear store. I love the fact that they have a golden zipper on the back (which you unfortunately can't see on the picture, I'm sorry), it makes them a lot more special and I just love golden details.

For jewellery I chose to wear my beautiful earrings of New Look. I really love them! They give every look that modern thouch. Then I'm wearing again my two golden rings, I told you guys I wear them almost every day... And then I also chose to wear my watch from Six. This watch was pretty cheap and it's great quality! So I definitely recommend the watches from Six. Well, the straps aren't in a good state anymore, but you can always exchange them for new ones.

So that was my snow-themed look!

Running

be healthy- feel fit

Hi,

Now that the new year has started, many people probably have the resolution of going running more often, getting a better condition or maybe even losing weight. Unfortunately, many of those people don't carry on with it. So we're here to help!

Both of us go running very often, at least once a week. If you didn't know it yet: running is the fastest way to see progress on your body. Maia has followed some running programs last year and to be honest, this helps a lot. She always felt more obligated to go when she was following a program, and it's also good to make sure you make progress. Of course it isn't possible for everyone to go running or walking every day, but we think you can also put some rest days inbetween your program. After all it's still most important that you like what you do, not how much progress you make.
It's of course important to have the right running program, so here you have the two programs Maia followed last year:

From Walking to Running in 30 Days

Road Runner program

As you can see they both come from Neilarey.com. That's a website Maia found through Pinterest. It's a great website for people who want to get started with running or working out.
This year she'll probably do that last one again, or follow another program from Neila Rey.

Femke doesn't follow any programs. When she started running two years ago, she builded it up herself by running as long as she could, then walking 1 minute, running again and repeating the same steps over and over again till she was really tired. Even though this worked out great for her, she still recommends to use a program for the first months you go running. Afterwards you can just go running as often and as long as you want, just like Femke does now.

Apart from a running program, good music will also keep you going. It'll help you stop focussing on how tired you are.
Some of Maia's favorite running songs are:
- 'Roar' by Katy Perry
- 'The Miracle' by U2
- 'Waves' by Robin Schulz
- 'Hey Brother' by Avicii
- 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen
Some of Femke's favorite running songs are:
- 'Hey Now' by Martin Solveig
- 'Give Our Dreams Their Wings to Fly' by Tim McMorris
- 'Work Bitch' by Britney Spears
- 'Nobody to Love' by Sigma
- 'Ugly Heart' by G.R.L.
You can also listed to an audio book or radio play when you're going on a long run.

It also helps to look for inspirational quotes sometimes. We Heart It's full of them! You can also print some of them out and stich them to your mirror. Or choose a quote as you background picture on your phone. This way you'll be reminded of it every day.

You hear quite often: 'no pain, no gain', but we think this isn't entirely true. Of course muscle pain indicates that you've worked hard, but it might also indicate that you don't stretch enough (or not at all), that your posture isn't right or that your running shoes aren't good enough. Now for this last thing, keep in mind that it has to be the exact right size and that the soles have to be thick enough. By the way, expencive shoes don't mean good shoes. Maia's got very cheap ones, but they're great and she never had foot pain with it. Now for the stretching and the posture we also found something at Neila Reys website:

Stretching for Runners

Running Form

And last but not least: too much is also not good. It's also okay to stop in winter when it's too cold or in summer when it's too hot. Just make sure you don't make up to many excuses for not going, because after all, it's something you have to do for yourself. You'll thankful to yourself later :)

Makeup to Impress Boys

Hi,

Valentine is coming up. So you might want to impress boys in this remaining time. Today I'm going to tell you how to wear your makeup to impress boys.

Well, the truth is that boys don't like makeup. They just don't get it and they don't want girls to cover themselves up. But boys also don't want a girlfriend with acne or very small eyes,... So we have to find a compromise here. Of course you don't have to wear makeup, it's totally up to you if you want to wear makeup. But if you do prefer to wear makeup, than I have some tips for you:

- The main trick is to keep it natural of course. Don't wear a very thick layer of foundation, don't go crazy with the bronzer or blush and don't overdo your eyes.
- A primer is a great first step for your impressing-boys-makeup-look. It already blurs your imperfections out, makes your pores look smaller and prevents your face to get oily. So now you can actually skip your foundation and powder. But if you still feel insecure, you don't have to of course. A primer makes your foundation look a lot more natural too. So a primer is a must here!
- If the next step is foundation for you, than I recommend to go for a more dewy one instead of a matte one. A matte foundation looks a lot more "fake". The Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation is an example of a foundation with a more dewy finish. And if you want to powder you face afterwards, than this foundation will make your face look still less matte, because it has little glitters in it (they look very natural and subtle, don't worry).
- Because we want to look natural, maybe you should skip concealer. Your foundation will cover the most blemishes up already and if you let some shine through it will look a lot more natural. But we don't want dark circles! To impress boys we want to look fresh! So you can wear some concealers under your eyes. A highlighting concealer will make your face look a lot more fresh too.
- If your face still gets oily, even though you're wearing your primer, than you should wear some powder. Because an oily skin in combination with a dewy foundation is not a good idea, believe me! So than your next step is a small layer of powder.
- Skip bronzing with this look, but you can go for some blush to add color to your face. But like I said before, don't go crazy with it! Pick a color than goes great with your skin tone and use a very light layer.
- If you fill in your brows, this is your next step. Many boys don't even know that there exists something like 'filling in your brows'. But still don't go crazy with it, leave your brows looking very natural.
- If you want to wear some eyeshadow you can go for a champagne color. This looks very natural and subtle, but make your eyes still stand out a bit more. If you really want to go for a natural look you can also just bring this color to the inner corners of your eyes, to highlight them.
- Highlighting your cupid bones is also a must when you want to impress boys, because this gives the illusion of fuller lips. And you can use that same champagne colored eyeshadow for it.
- Well, mascara is something boys have to learn to deal with. So wear as much as you want! Because this makes your eyes look a lot bigger, and we all want cute bambi eyes, right?
- For lips you shouldn't go with a too obvious color. Go for a your-lips-but-better-color. Or just wear a lip balm and leave your lips in there natural state.

These were all the tips I have for you. Hopefully you're able to impress that boy you like now!

How To Protect Your Nails In Winter

Hi,

I really love having long nails, but in winter my nails always get a bit weaker and it gets harder to let them grow. This year too, so I've done some research on how to protect your nails in winter.
The reason nails hate winter is that we consantly move between really cold and dry, hot air. This'll dehydrate your nails (and your skin too by the way).
So he main things you need to do when you want to keep your nails healthy and your hands soft is keep them hydrateted. First of all, always wear gloves when your going out. It's also important to use some kind of moisturizer at least once a week. Focus on your nails when you apply it and massage it into the cuticles.
You really have to avoid everything that can dry out your nails. This means: no too hot showers, no nail polish remover, no dish washing liquid and also no nail polish for a while.
And last but not least: drink enough water! When your hydrateted on the inside, you'll also be hydratated on the outside :)

Spotted: Stella Mccartney

Hi,

I spotted Stella Mccartney looking casual chic. And I love her look!
She chose to wear a grey turtle neck sweater. And you know how I feel about turtle necks lately: they are so cozy and they are a big trend right now! With that she was wearing this oversized (or well, not skinny) jeans. The coat makes this look rather chic than just casual.
I also love her leopard printed clutch. It goes great with her coat and makes this look again a bit more chic.
I'm not such a huge fan of her boots, but they do look very cool and hipster-like, so they do go great with this look.
For accessoires she is wearing a hat and sunglasses, they complete the whole look

How To Fake A Bob

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago our hair post was about hairstyles you can make on short hair. Short hair has been a trend for a while, but we both really don't want to cut her hair. But still it's a trend and it does look good on people. A while ago we found this tutorial that explains how you can make a faux bob. As you see it looks pretty cute and the buns underneath create a lot of volume, which is nessecery for a short bob. It's a fun tutorial to try out if you, like us, can't say goodbye to your long hair or when your considering to cut your hair, but don't know if it looks good on you.

Joan Didion for CĂ©line

Hi,

The 80-year old writer Joan Didion is the new face of CĂ©line's latest campaign. And I love it! It doesn't always have to be a photoshopped supermodel. I think CĂ©line did a great job here, with picking Joan Didion for there campaign. They turned her into a hipster, by dressing her very chic and fashionable.

Advertisement would be so much more fun with pictures like these! And it's not the perfect supermodels you should look up to, because when I'm old, I don't want to look fake, but I definitely want to look like this! So hopefully CĂ©line brought some ideas for other brands. Because I would definitely like to see more advertisement like this one in the streets.

Christmas Presents

Hi,

Today a kind of different shoplog, because I won't be showing what I bough, but what I got as a present this Christmas :)

First of all I got this super cute pink bracelet with a few pendants. I love it a lot and I've been wearing it every day since I got it. :)
I also got this hair chalk. I haven't tried it out yet, but you can expect a review :) I don't really know were it's from (there wasn't any brand name on it) but I think it was from Claire's.
Like I already told you in my DIY post about earplugs, I also got a new pair of earplugs. They're just basic white ones from Samsung, but I might try and do something colorful with them too.
This adorable shirt was also one of my presents this year.
This really hasn't got anything to do with fashion, but my new Wreck This Journal is just so awesome I couldn't leave it out of this post :D
Then I got this double ring. Double rings have been a trend for a while and I really love both the shape and the dark silver color of this one.
I also got these really cute socks :D

Turtle Neck

V

Hi,

Turtle necks are totally back in fashion this winter. I think a turtle neck makes a sweater look a lot more cozy and mature. And it's also a lot warmer. If you still don't own any sweaters with a turtle neck, than these sales are the perfect moment for you to buy one! Here are some I found and liked, that are on sales:

Afbeelding 2 van TRICOT TRUI van Zara
In Zara I found this pretty pink one. This has a very small and subtle turtle neck. It costs € 25,99, which is maybe still a bit too much for the sales, but it's pretty cheap for Zara.

Afbeelding 3 van KABELTRUI MET HOGE KRAAG van Zara
This is another one of Zara. And doesn't it look a lot like the picture above this post? It costs € 39,99, which is even more than the sweater above. But it comes from € 59,95, so it's a great deal.

Cameo Rose Light Grey Fine Knit Roll Neck Sleeveless Top | New Look
This one from New Look is actually not on sale, but I think it's very pretty and it's so cheap! It costs only € 11,99.

Grey Roll Cowl Neck Swing Jumper | New Look
This one of New Look is on sale. It costs € 18,74 (which means that the one above that's not on sale is still cheaper).

In Urban Outfitters I found this t-shirt with a very small turtle neck. And it costs only € 14,00, which is very cheap for Urban Outfitters!

You can buy this one again in Urban Outfitters. It also has a very small turtle neck, wich I think looks very cute. This one costs only € 14,00 too.

These where the ones I found, hopefully you like one! Last weekend I also bought a sweater with a turtle neck in the sales. Here it is:

Mine is from Forever 21 and cost only € 10,49!

Bright Lipstick

 The purple owl

Hi,

A nice way to stand out with your make up is by wearing a bright lipstick. It's a trend we spotted a lot lately. Especially in bright red and in bright pink. This immediately makes your make up look a lot more special. Even when you're wearing just a natural makeup look.
Last week we made another post about lipstick in which you can find the right lipstick color for your skin tone, so maybe you should take a look to see which bright lipstick colors work best for you.

Nude Nails

♡

Hi,

Today I'm going to tell you a new nail polish trend! This trend is actually going on for a while now, but I'm going to tell you it anyway. It's to paint your nails in a nude nail polish shade. Some peole really don't get this trend, but I think it's a very chic and subtle way to paint your nails. And if you want to, you can glam it up by adding little stones on your nails or just by making a nail art out of it, like on these pictures:

Nude Colored Nails | via Tumblr

so cute

So there are many ways how to wear this trend.
