Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Hi,

Maia already reviewed her concealer, but meanwhile Femke was trying out one too. Maia her Time Balm Concealer turned out to be very good. But still a bit to expensive. Femke bought the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, which costs something under € 10,00. So it's very effortable.

As we already mentioned, Femke was doing a lot of research to buy good make up. Also for concealer she did some research. And the most popular ones turned out to be the Nars Creamy Concealer, the Makeup Forever Lasting Perfection Concealer, the Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer and this one, the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. Unfortunately in Belgium they only sell the one of Mac, which is very expensive, and than the one she finally bought of Maybelline. So she didn't really have that much of choice.

But this concealer is good and Femke is very happy with it. It's very light, but still covers up great. Also it doesn't start to crease or look cakey. Femke mostly likes to use it as a highlighter under her eyes and it really does make her dark circles dissapear. It has a bit a dewy finish and that's why she prefers to use it under her eyes instead of on blemishes, because we don't want to highlight those! What we do think that's stupid is that they don't sell a big color range and that the lightest color, 10, isn't super light. Well, Femke is now able to use it as a highlighter, but she isn't sure if she will be able to do that in the winter when her skin will be a lot lighter. But beside that this concealer does a great job.

If you want to know how to correctly apply concealer under your eyes, we have a post on that linked here.

Garnier All-In-One BB Cream

http://bbcream.garnier.co.uk/_en/_gb/bb-cream/img/msp-produit1_bbcreme_01.png

Hi,

In our post about Maia's new Bourjois Healthy Mix Fond De Teint we promised that we'd post a review of the BB Cream from Garnier soon, so here it is :)

We already told you that Maia used it daily before she bought this new fond de teint from Bourjous, wich means it's pretty good :) She still uses it very often but, like we also said before, it's not very covering, so when you really want a perfect skin, this is not a good  BB cream for you.
It does cover the worst imperfections and evens your skin tone yet it looks very natural (way more than Maia's fond de teint), wich is why she still likes to use it. Also it hydratates your skin, smoothens it and protects it agains UV, thaks to the SPF 30 UV protection in it. Wich, by the way, also prevents wrinckles.  It gives your skin a healthy glow too, without making it look oily or greasy.

It comes in two colors, light and medium. Maia has the medium one, but that one's actually already a bit dark for her. But of course if it was lighter it would be even less covering, so we don't really know if this is a good or a bad thing.
It's also a bit heavy and thick and you can really feel that you're wearing it, even if you didn't use a lot of it. So in that way, the fond de teint is more comfortable, altough it looks less natural.

Another advantage is that it really doesn't cost a lot. Garnier isn't an expencive brand at all, but their products are mostly great. This BB cream isn't perfect, but it's definitely worth what Maia payed for it and she will probably buy it again.
Speaking of which, it last very long! Maia has been using this for almost a whole year and almost daily and it's still not empty. In fact, it's not even half empty.

Should You Use Conditioner?

Hi,

We both use conditioner every time we wash our hair, just as many other people, but there are also a lot of people who don't use conditioner or even say it's bad for your hair? So in this post we'll find out for you if it's necessary to use conditioner and if you should use it every time you wash your hair.

First of all conditioners don't  repair your hair (like a lot of people think), but they can increase shine and strength. Many conditioners also help against frizziness and protect your hair from the sun. It also helps if your hair is dryed out from chlorine, after you went swimming. So there are definitely a lot of adventages from conditioner and it really helps to keep your hair healthy.

Now this doesn't mean you should use it every day, because this can weigh down your hair. But on the other side, not using it enough an result in making your hair look unhealthy. So how many times should you use it? Now because shampoo removes natural oils from your hair, you should use a conditioner afterwards to keep it balanced and looking healthy. So actually, every time you use shampoo, you should use conditioner. But like we said in a previous post, you shouldn't use shampoo your hair every day, wich is obviously the same with conditioner.

500th Post: Our Real Names Release + Fashion/Beauty Q&A

Hi,

This is a very special post, because it's our 500th post! That's why we wanted to do something a bit more special too. We are going to release our real names and we're going to do a fashion/beauty Q&A so you guys can find out a bit more abouts us personally.

Something you don't know is that Farah and Mary aren't our real names(they aren't typical Dutch either as you may have noticed). We made them up, because we wanted to keep this blog anonymous and we still will. But from now on you can call us instead of Farah and Mary: Femke and Maia. Femke looks maybe a bit weird for all the non-Dutch-speaking-people out there, because it's a typical Dutch name. So if you like to call her still Farah, that's cool for us too. But Maia shouldn't really be a problem. That means that our blog name and web adress are going to change in 'Fashion with Femke & Maia' and http://femkeandmaia.blogspot.be/. But to give you some time we will change that next friday. So keep that in your mind. Also we changed the name of our We Heart It account in Femke and Maia.

Now it's time for the Q&A. So here are some fashion and beauty related questions and we will both answer them:

What is your favourite clothing store?
Maia: I really can't pick one, because I get my clothes from kind of everywhere :) But lately I buy most of my clothes at Bershka and Pull & Bear. Most things there are affordable, but still more special than at H&M or Pimkie.
Femke: I have way to many. I really love H&M and Zara. But if I really have to pick one favourite I would probably pick Brandy Melville. Because there clothes are made of such a good quality, it's not expensive and I almost love all the clothes they sell.

Who is your fashion icon?
Maia: Probably Alessandra Ambrosio, a Brazillian model. You've probably already noticed that we made a lot of spotted-posts about her. :) She manages to look very chic, altough she mostly wears kind of basic outfits. Her clothes are from famous and expencive brands, of course, but her style is easy to recreate with affordable look-alikes.
Femke: Mine is Alex Centomo, she is instagram famous and she also is a youtuber. So go check her out. I would just want to steal whole her wardrobe. Almost all her clothes are from Brandy Melville, so you might know why I love her style so much. Also she has the most dreamy hair ever.

What do you do with your hair on badhairdays?
Maia: I have a lot of bad hair days, because my hair really has no volume :( I braid my hair almost every day, because this way it looks special but I can still hide how bad it looks. I mostly go on WeHeartIt for inspiration, because I don't want my hair to look the same every day and there are so many different braid to try out!
Femke: I'm really loving the half-up top knot lately, especially on bad hair days. Because when my hair is a bit more greasy this hairstyle will stay a lot better. Also when my hair is very frizzy I like to do half-up hairstyles, because my hair is very thin and when I normally do a hairstyle like this I wouldn't have much hair left over, but when my hair is frizzy it looks a lot better.

What is you favourite color to wear?
Maia: I wear a lot of brown, because I love how natural and chic that color can look. But I actually have clothes in almost every color. The only color I really hate is orange. :)
Femke: I actually love to wear almost all the colors, but my most worn colors are black and white. And out of these two I like white the most, because white makes my skin a lot tanner.

What are your favourite type of shoes?
Maia: Definitely ancle boots. I wear them the whole year round, even in summer. They're really comfortable and they look good with almost every outfit.
Femke: At this point I would say they are the slip-on sneakers, because they are so comfy and sportive, but depending on the shoe it can be very chic and feminine. In the winter my favourite type of shoes will probably be the wedge sneakers, because they're also very comfy but will still give you that height you like. And again they are sportive, but can still look very feminine.

If you could only keep one beauty item for your entire life, what would it be?
Maia: I would keep Vaseline. It sounds weird, but vaseline is actually really a must-have. I use it for both my lips and my eye-lashes and it makes a huge difference.
Femke: Than I will definitely choose to keep Labello. If you follow us for a while you will probably already know that I'm a bit addicted to Labello. I use it all the time and not only on my lips. On dry spots too, it's very moisturizing.

And if you could only keep one makeup item for your entire life, what would it be?
Maia: I'd keep my Maybelline Volum Express Mascara. My eye-lashes are really thin and short, so I never leave my house without wearing mascara :o And Maybelline mascara is just the best there is :) It's not too sticky or dry, but has a beautiful effect.
Femke: I would keep my Bourjois BB cream that I ones reviewed. It's my actual favourite bb cream ever. It has a high coverage like foundation, it's matte(which I prefer over a dewy finish) and feels very light. But unfortunately it's very expensive. Well, it's not that expensive but it runs out very fast which makes it expensive. But if I would only keep one product that wouldn't really be a problem anymore, right? ;) And I choose for a bb cream, because I like to have my base to cover up any blemishes.

What is your favourite parfum?
Maia: Flower by Kenzo. It smells fresh, but still chic. I actually love all the Kenzo parfumes.
Femke: Mine is Daisy by Marc Jacobs, I just really love that scent.

Spotted: Olivia Palermo

Hi,

We spotted Olivia Palermo in this lovely outfit!
We love how everything fits together perfectly. Her short and jacket are from Alexander Wang and we don't really know what kind of fabric they're made of, but it looks really special. :o Also she did good by combining it with gold jewelry, because this makes it look very chic. Her shirt is basic, just like her bag and this brings a balance in her eye-catching outfit.
The curls in her hair are just perfect :) We're only not really fond of her sunglasses. The shape doesn't go with her face and they have kind of a strage collor.

Yes!!♥♡

Hi,

It's officially autumn now, that means that Sweater Weather is coming up. So it's time to go sweater shopping. To help you find the perfect sweaters we selected our favourite ones in this post:

We think this sweater is very fun and special. It's from H&M and costs € 39,99.

Sweaters with a collar are getting back in fashion. This is a cropped top one of H&M. It costs € 49,99, which is a bit more on the pricey side for H&M.

This pretty sweater with daisies is from Brandy Melville and costs $ 65, which is also expensive for Brandy Melville.

This sweater is also from Brandy Melville. We really like these kind of fluffy sweaters. It costs $ 35.

In Brandy Melville we also found this pretty sweater for $ 44.

Pink (Pink) Cameo Rose Light Pink Fluffy Cropped Jumper | 327938770 | New Look
Another fluffy sweater, but this one is cropped and is from New Look.  It costs € 22,99.

For all the pizza lovers between us we found this gorgeous sweater with pizzas all over it. This looks like a sweater you normally only can find on online shops like Romwe, Beloved and Aloha From Dear. But this is actually of Forever 21 and it only costs € 16,45.

Also in Forever 21 we found this very cheap sweater for € 16,45. We love the stripes and the fact that there are those 2 bleu stripes, it makes this sweater very special.

We love the quote on this sweater because it's so true! It's from Subdued and costs € 39.
Wow, this sweater of Urban Outfitters is so unique. We want it! It costs € 55.

Game Of Thrones Inspired Hairstyles

Hi,

When Maia watches Game Of Throne, she's always a little distracted by the beautiful hairstyles. Some are very complicated and we're sure you can't recreate them without spending at least 3 hours braiding, but others are much simpler and just as beautiful.
On WeHeartIt we found tutorials to some of these. It's explained very well and not difficult te recreate. Here they are:

Daenerys Targaryen hair tutorial
Cersei Lannister hair tutorial

Evelina's Fashion Tips For Broke Girls

Hi,

A huge problem Maia has at the moment is that she doesn't have a lot of money left. Summer vacation is a perfect time for shopping and altough she wasn't home a lot, she managed to spend almost all her money. And now she has a lot of party's coming up, wich means she has to buy a lot of presents and all that results in having no money left to go shopping this moth... :(
But a couple of days ago Evelina Barry (one of our favorite youtubers) uploaded a video with some great fashion tips for broke girls. And because we're sure Maia's not the only one having this problem, we decided to make a post about it!

6 Trends Of London Fashion Week

Hi,

Last week we made a post about the 3 trends that we spotted on New York Fashion Week. Now that London Fashion Week is over we're going to do the same thing. And we spotted way more trends in London. If you're wondering Fashion Week is now going on in Milan. But let's take a final look to the Fashion Week in London.

Lots of completely white looks were spotted in London. Like for example in Paul Smith's collection.

The next trend is young and girly looks. In London Fashion Week we saw lot's of cropped tops, floral prints, flat shoes, shorts, ... That means everyone can dress themselves as a teenager next Spring.

The beauty trend we saw coming back all the time in London was a natural look. For make up it was all kept very basic and natural looking.

For shoes like we said it was mostly flat, but we noticed a lot sneakers. The sneaker trend isn't over yet. Last year it was Chanel who chose for sneakers on the runway, this year it was Burberry.

Another trend we noticed is that many brands chose to use materials as decoration instead of prints on there pieces. Things like rubber, ropes, plastic and embellishments were used. This definitely makes a statement in your look.

The last trend we noticed was lots of see through fabrics. Again Burberry had a lot of see through pieces in there collection, but also Thomas Tait used this fabric a lot.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Fond De Teint

 Hi,

A while ago Maia bought a the Healthy Mix fond de teint from Bourjous. Until that she used the BB Cream froim Garnier daily, wich is a very good one (she'll review it too), but it's not very covering. It's good when you don't have a lot of acne, red spots or dark circles, but otherwise is isn't very helpfull...
So for these 'bad skin days' she now has the Healthy Mix fond de teint. It covers really good, way better than the BB cream. It's also not too shiny, wich is good, because Maia has kind of an oily skin from herself already... It's not too heavy or dry so it's actually very easy to apply and it stays the whole day.

She bought N°52, Vanilla, wich is actually a little too dark for her. As you see in the picture above, were she tried it out on her hand, it's a huge difference with her own skin color. It's not the lightest one, there are two shades lighter, so when this one's empty, she'll probably go for one shade lighter.
But apart from that, Maia really loves this fond de teint. It gives her an almost prefect skin! Especially in combination with the concealer from theBalm.

Diving Fabric

Hi,

A big trend lately is using the diving fabric in dresses, skirts, ... This trend is going on since the summer now and you see it everywhere. Not only the expensive brands, but also shops like H&M have been using this fabric in there clothes. We don't really like this trend, because we think the diving fabric looks a bit to stiff and thick. In skater skirts it can look a bit more pretty, but we still are not totally happy about this trend. Still we think it's very special and everyone who owns something in the diving fabric is deffinitely a hipster.

In our sneak peek post of the collection by Alexander Wang for H&M you could see that they used this fabric a lot too.

Spotted: Emma Watson

Emma WatsonHi!

We spotted Emma Watson in this beautiful casual-chic outfit.
To start with we love her top!! It's so chic and it looks great on her! Oversized tops are mostly pretty, but it's hard to make them look chic too.
We also really like the skirt. It's very basic, but still has kind of a special shape, wich makes her outfit a little more unique.
Her hair is in a normal side braid and het make-up is natural, except for her lipstick.
Her shoes match the outfit perfectly and we love their pointy tip.

Alexander Wang For H&M Sneak Peek

Hi,

Last friday these pictures of the collection by Alexander Wang for H&M were brought into the world.

As you can see Alexander Wang choose for a sportive style and a lot of black like always. We can't wait to see the rest of the collection, because for now we think it's all a bit too special and maybe not so wearable for normal people. But we will see in november the 6th when the collection will be released.

How to Correctly Apply Concealer

Hi,

A while ago we posted about Maia's new concealer, Time Balm from The Balm. It's a really great concealer: it covers perfectly and it looks so natural!
But a good concealer isn't everything. If you want your concealer to totally cover your dark eye circles, you first have to make sure you apply it right! Many people just apply a thin line direcly on their eye circles, but we recently found out that it's better to spread it out even more.

Beauty tip as a first post after having internet taken away for a week.

As you see, it makes a huge difference!

3 Trends Of New York Fashion Week

Hi,

Fashion Week in New York is over, now it is Fashion Week in London. But before we're going to talk about that, let's take a final look at the New York Fashion Week. There were 3 trends spotted that we will tell you in this post.

The first trend is stars and floral prints. As you may already have seen in our post about the Tommy Hilfinger collection, the star print kept coming back in there clothes. But in the collections of for example Jeremy Scott and Carolina Herrera they used a lot floral prints. So next spring these two prints will deffinitely be a trend.

Black and white never really goes out of style, but we spotted a lot black and white in New York Fashion Week. Diane Von Furstenberg used almost only black and white (with sometimes another popping color) in her collection. We really loved her collection too by the way, it's very wearable and chic. But also Marc Jacobs, Thakoon, Proenza, Schouler and Versus by Versace used lots of black and white in there collection.

The last big trend on New York Fashion Week is light, flowy and summery. Diane Von Furstenberg also showed a lot light, flowy dresses with that summery colorful touch. And not only Diane Von Furstenberg, but also Ralph Lauren, Jeremy Scott, Nicole Miller and DKNY.

Time Balm Concealer by The Balm

Hi,

School started again and that means getting up early... And that results in getting puffy eyes and dark circles :( But Maia was already forseeing that, so she bought herself a new concealer.

She chose Time Balm, a concealer from The Balm. If you've read some of our other posts too you might know this brand, for excample from our post 'Cosmetics with the cutest packaging'.
The package from Maia's Time Balm isn't that very special, but it still looks soooo cute! :D Just the name is cute already!
It isn't excactly the cheapest concealer she could find (it was around €17), but we hear good things about this brand all the time, so we really wanted to test out some of their products.

As you see, along with the concealer, you get a little sponge. Most people just apply their concealer with their fingers, but a little sponge can be really usefull too. You can apply concealer more precicely with your fingers, that's true, but a sponge helps you to spread it out more equally because it absorbs it a little. And also it's just really really soft :)

Many concealers are very thick and smudgy ort just too dry and they're hard to apply, because you've easily used too much of them. You probably know what we mean :) But this concealer is nothing like that! It's still a bit thick, but not too much and it has a great texture! This also makes it way easier to apply. It isn't heavy at all and you don't feel you're wearing it at all.

The Time Balm comes in nine different colors. Maia chose the 'Light' one, wich is perfect for her skin. As you see in the picture above, where she tested out her concealer on her hand, it's lighter than her own skin, but not too much. On the picture it seems like a big difference, but you should also consider that your hand are always a bit more tanned than your face.
The 'Lighter than light' one is still a tone lighter, but this one is better for Maia.

Altough it's almost the same color as her skin, it makes a huge difference! Of course it doesn't hide her eye circles completely, but it reduces them more than any other concealer she's ever had. Maia uses it daily now, and she couldn't miss it anymore! It cover so good and you don't even need to apply a second layer.
