Lookbook: Our First Schoolday Look

Hi,

In Belgium school starts again tomorrow, so that's why we thought we should do a lookbook with our back to school outfits. So if your school also starts tomorrow and you still have no idea what to wear, you might get some inspiration of our outfits.

Femke had seriously no idea what she is going to wear tomorrow. But she bought this new backpack of Boohoo, so she builded her outfit up based on her backpack. That makes everything match perfectly. This is a great tip if you don't know what to wear: just pick a statement piece and builed your outfit based on that piece. So here is her look:

As you can see she chose to wear a stiped button down shirt of Zara with a jeans of H&M. She folded the ends of her jeans and sleeves to make this look a bit more casual. And her sneakers are also of H&M. All the colors work great with her backpack of Boohoo. She isn't going to wear lots of jewellery, but she is going to wear some earings of New Look and some golden rings. Femke decided to wear her hair down on the first day of school. Her make up is basic as always, because she can't wear lots of make up to school. And her nails are just in a french manicure.

Maia chose to wear her favorite shirt from Zara combined with a pair of basic jeans shorts. For this new schoolyear she bought a new backpack, from Vans. The shoes she's going to wear are from New Look. Maia really loves jewellry, so she's going to show that by wearing her favorite pieces tomorrow. :) She's going to wear a necklace from H&M, her clip-earrings from Claire's and her two favorite rings. Also she chose to wear her black glasses (she also has brown ones) to keep her look kind of black-and-white. Maia decided that she'll wear her hair up in a ponytail with a bow in it. She's also going to wear all her best make-up, because getting up early will probably give her puffy eyes again. :( Luckily she just bought a lot of good new make-up! So you can expect many reviews soon ;)

The Body Shop Tea Tree

Hi,

Tea Tree is a natural ingredient that does wonders on a blemished skin. A while ago Femke discovered a whole tea tree collection by The Body Shop, so she had to check it out. She bought the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser and the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion. She uses both products in the morning, first the cleanser of course and after that the lotion. She has been using it whole summer long now and she finds that both products last a long time, which is great considering these products are a bit more on the pricey side.

Of all the products against acne Femke used these are the only ones that didn't dry out her skin. Instead of drying out her skin it made her skin feel very soft. Her acne did't go away, maybe it will after she uses these products for a bit longer, but it does make her skin produce less oil, which is also great. So Femke is happy she bought them and she is thinking of buying the cleanser again when it's finished.

Femke also heard many good things about the Tea Tree Oil of The Body Shop, so she might buy that the next time she stops by a Body Shop. If she does she will review it of course.

DIY: Flower Crown

Hi,

We recently found a really interesting tutorial on We Heart It. It's on how to make your own flower crown!
We both really want a flower crown and we went shopping for it, but both of us haven't found a perfect one yet... They're all too full, too empty, too colorfull, not colorfull enough,... So we were really happy to find this tutorial. Now we can finally make a perfect crown ourselves!

It appears that you don't need a lot. Just wire, a headband (they made that with wire too in the tutorial), something to cut wire with and a lot of cute flowers!
It seems to be very easy to do! Here's the tutorial:

MTV Video Music Awards: Who Wears What?

Hi!

Yesterday were the MTV Video Music Awards and as always everybody dressed up as well as they could. Some of them looked very eye-catching, so let's take a look!

First is one of our big style icons, Arianna Grande. And as usual, her outfit is beautiful! Normally we don't really like leather dresses, but this one's so cute!  We love all the little pockets and it goes really well with the boots. And omg, her hair! We're sooo jealous...

Hmm this looks kind of weird.. Taylor Swift is wearing a really strange suit, with long sleeves, but no pants... We think it kind of looks like a pyjama... :s We do like it that she's wearing matching blue eye-liner :)

Niki Minaj chose a sparkling dress with snake print and combined it with nude stiletto's. Altough we think that her dress is a little too sparkling, we love the shape of it and we think it looks really good on her.

Wow, is Miley Cyrus seriously wearing more fabric than Taylor Swift? Anyway, it's a good change, because we really love this outfit! Especially the leather pants: they are fabulous! It seems like black leather is totally back in fashion, by the way, because also Ariana Grande wore an all-leather outfit.

We don't really know what to think of the outfits of Katy Perry and Riff Raff. We would definitely wear so much denim in one outfit, but in a weird way, it looks good on them. Or actually only on Katy, Riff Raff doen't look good in it at all. :o But still we expected better from Katy Perry, who is one of our big style icons...

Seana Gorlick and Tyler Posey both chose real casual outfits. Don't get us wrong, they're both dressed very well, but maybe not well enough for the VMA's...

Dylan O'Brien on the other side, sure knows how to dress well! He also chose an outfit with some black leather (this is going to be SUCH a big trend).

Arden Cho and Dylan Sprayberry both look really great. We love Aren's sparkling dress and matching shoes and clutch. We only think Dylan should have gone for a more decent jacket, because jeans jackets aren't excactly chic...

Charli XCX wore something from Mochino, just like Arianna Grande, but her outfit looks way less beautiful... We love her shoes, but we think her jumpsuit is the weirdest we've ever seen. And we don't like the tiger-print at all.

Maia's Loom Bands

Hi,

In our post about Loom Bands we promised you that Maia would post about the ones she made when she came back from vacation, but she kind of forgot about that... So sorry, but still here they are:

She started with the easiest way to make them. We didn't post a tutorial about how to make this kind of bracelets in our previous post, but it's not difficult at all. You just fold one elastic double and put another one through it, than you fold that one double and so on.

Next she tries the fishtail bracelet. Altough that's not that difficult to make, these are her favorites. As you see she made three of them. And this last one is glow-in-the-dark. :D

And then suddenly she became an expert. No just kidding, this is one a friend made for her. :) It's really beautiful, but it's probably also really difficult to make.. :o

That's all! She became bored of it a little soon, that's why she didn't make that many. :) Also, they're not such good quality, because some broke already! :o They're from the real Loom Bands-brand, but still..

Maia's New Sandals

Hi,

We've already told you that Maia is really not a fan of sandals. Mostly because she prefers high-heels, but she also just never finds a pair she likes. But this year she finally found her perfect sandals! As you see they're very basic, wich means they suit every outfit (she also ones bought red ones with roses, but she barely wears them, because they match almost none of her outfits). Also these don't have a strap around the ancle, wich is way more comfortable.





They're from Steve Madden, wich is a pretty good brand for shoes. They costed around €90, but Maia thinks they were definitely worth it. Mostly she buys shoes from New Look, H&M or shops like that, but these shoes aren't good quality and sometimes they don't even last a year... So she's really happy she's finaly got a pair of good-quality shoes.

No Heat Beach Curls

Hi,

We already made a post where Femke showed you how she got her no heat beach waves, but today she'll show you how to create no heat beach curls. Again we first want to mention that you may not get the same results as Femke, because everyone has a different hairtype. But you always should try it out first.

To create the no heat beach curls you first need to brush your hair till it's tangle free. Than separate your hair in 2 sections. When you did that you should make a rope french braid with each section down your hairline till you reach the back of your head (where the partline should be). That means that you basically need to rope braid your hair and every time you twist a section you pick a bit of hair with it. If you don't get it you should search for a tutorial on Youtube that will explain it step by step. When you rope frech braided both the sections you should gather your hair in 1 final rope braid. It should end up looking something like this:

Now you sleep wearing this hairstyle and when you wake up you can release your hair and you will have beautiful messy curls. You can't brush your hair, because if you do that you'll end up with soft waves, which is also pretty, but it's not the look we were going for. And don't worry because we brushed our hair before doing the hairstyle, so normally you shouldn't have any tangles. If you prefer not to sleep with it you can also make your hair a bit wet before you create the hairstyle and than after an hour when it's airdried you can release your hair and it will have the same result. But Femke prefers to sleep with it, because when she wakes up she will have perfect looking curls. This is how Femke's no heat beach curls look:

7 Days - 7 Ways

Hi,

Last week Michelle Phan made a video called 'Back 2 School: 5 days - 5 ways' (link here). And we really liked this video, so we decided to make our own post about it. Michelle shows you in her video 5 different ways to style your outfit during the schoolweek, but we wanted to make a post for the whole week. So here is our style planner for the week:

Monday: Michelle Phan said that you should wear something effortless and cozy on monday, but we think you should do the opposite. Because on monday you're going to see your classmates or colleagues again after the weekend and you want to make a good impression. So on monday you should wear your favourite outfit pieces. Put an outfit together that you love and where you will shine in. Mondays are the worst days of all, we all now that, but maybe now you can look a little bit more forward to monday when you're wearing something you love.

Tuesday: Let's say we will wear something edgy on tuesdays. Wear something with leather detailing, black and white, studs, ...

Wednesday: We really like the quote of Mean Girls 'On wednesday we wear pink!' that Michelle Phan also mentioned in her video. But of course not everyone is such a big fan of pink, so we should make wednesday the girly day. So on wednesday you can wear a dress, a skirt, something floral printed, a bow in your hair, ...

Thursday: On thursday you should go for something basic, but do something fun with your hair, nails or makeup.

Friday: Maybe on friday we should go for the boho style. Wear a lot of jewellery, a maxi skirt, a flower headband, something with lace, ...

Saturday: On saturday we can't really tell you what to wear, because it depends on what your doing. Maybe you're going shopping or you're going to a party or maybe you're just staying home? Pick your outfit on saturdays based on what you're going to do.

Sunday: Basically everyone stays home on sundays, that's why for us sunday is the no-makeup-day. Wear your coziest outfit and let your skin breath for a day. And relax, because the next day is monday again and you want to look nice and fresh!

We're not saying here you have to do this, that's totally up to you of course. And never wear something you're not comfortable in. But we just think this is a nice way to choose your outfit without wearing constantly the same. Let us know in the comments below if you found this helpful and if you will use our style planner.

Spotted: Brooklyn Decker

Hi,

We spotted the actress and model Brooklyn Decker in this beautiful outfit.
What we love the most are her shoes, wich are from Louboutin of course. They're so elegant, with the little heel, but still look way more comfortable than other Louboutin shoes. Also they make her outfit look really chic.
Her jacket, wich has lovely black accents, is from Emilio Pucci. You can't see her dress, but we assume it's a casual black dress.
She chose natural make-up, what suits the look, altough we think that some bright red lipstick would have looks good too.
The only thing that kind of bothers us is her hair. We think it's a bit too flat. She should have added a little volume or made an updo.
It's a very easy look to copy, because she's actually only wearing basics. And with a pair of cheaper shoes the outfit will still look cute. :)

No Heat Beach Waves

Hi,

If you've been following our blog for a while you probably know that Femke has naturally curly hair. But Femke doesn't really like her natural curls, because some pieces are super curly and some almost straight and this creates a big mess. So Femke sleeps every night with a braid that creates even waves. But she likes some variation, so this summer she has been trying out some no heat curls and she will show you her favourites in a couple of posts.. It is possible that you won't get the same effect as Femke, but that's because everyone has a different hairtype. But it's always worth to try. Maia has also tried out some no heat hairstyles, the links to her posts are here, here and here.

Today we will show you no heat beach waves. It's very easy to recreate. First you need to brush you're hair, so it's tangle free. Than you just need to part your hair in 2 and than you french braid each part down your hairline till you reach the back of your head (where the partline should be). If you still don't really get how to make it because you can't french braid for example, than you can search for a tutorial on Youtube, we're sure you will find one. We know this is very similar to wearing a braid overnight, but sleeping with this hairstyle creates a bit more that beachy effect. We love the final look and hopefully you will get the same results as Femke.

Back To School Nail Art

Maybelline Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

Hi,

We've already tested out some of the mascara's from Maybelline (check out the reviews here and here) and we both agree that Maybelline mascara's are simply the best. ;) They're not the cheapest you can find, but they give a beautiful effect and they don't dry out easily.
Before she bought this one, Maia used the Feather-look mascara from Maybelline daily. She's still very happy with that one (she already has it a year and it's still good to use), but she really wanted to try out a new one too. Of course one from Maybelline, so she chose the Rocket Volum' Express Mascara.



The main reason she chose it is that it's waterproof. The Feather-look mascara isn't and it's kind of nessecery to have something waterproof in summer. Altought this one also isn't as waterproof as it should be, it lasts all day and it doesn't smudge. Also it's easy to remove again, if you have a good make-up remover.

This is really the perfect mascara for people who want a lot of volume and very thick, dark eye-lashes. Some mascara's, who give the same effect, feel terribly dry or sometimes sticky after appying it, but after appying this mascara (or any other one from Maybelline) you won't have any trouble with that.

Maia also really loves the brush, it makes the mascara very easy to apply. You can reach every lash and it's very flexible. It also makes your lashes curl beautifully and this kind of brush prevents clumps.



It's kind of hard to review mascara, because everybody has a different kind of eye-lashes so everyone needs a different sort of mascara. Maia has very thin, short and not-so-dark eye-lashes, but this mascara was perfect for her, so we kind of expect it also to be perfect for people who also have more voluminous eye-lashes.

Maia normally applies two coats of it. One coat doesn't have a lot of effect on her eye-lashes (because like we said before, hers are very thin) but three coats makes her lashes too heavy and than the mascara clumps a little. So two coats is just perfect. :)

In general we can't tell wether the Rocket Volum Express is better than the Feather-look mascara or not, because they're very different, but both look very beautiful. To make a quick compare: the Feather-look is better if you want long, but not too thick eye-lashes who still look natural, while the Rocket Volum Express is for those who want a lot of volume and very dark, almost false-looking eye-lashes.

How To Make Your Face Look Perfect

You've probably noticed already that make-up can make your face look very perfect. Just applying some concealer, blush,.. can make a huge difference. We've always wondered how some people can be so good at doing their make-up so we've searched for tutorials all over the internet. There are a lot of good youtube-video's that show you how to do your make-up, but after all, this is the best tutorial we found:

Cute School Stuff

Hi,

Unfortunately the vacation is almost at his end. But that means that you can go shopping for cute school stuff (if you're a student of course). And to help you with finding the perfect things we selected some our favourite school stuff for you:

In Urban Outfitters they sell many cute things for school. One of them is this pretty flask for € 19,00. Perfect to take hot soup to school in the winter. And it comes with a cute little cup.

We know this is not something you really need for school, but you can always use a labelmaker, because who doesn't need labels? This one is again from Urban Outfitters and we think it looks so cool! It costs € 17,00. 

This backpack of New Look is so fashionable! We know it's probably a bit to small for school, but it just had to be in this post. It costs € 29,99. 

A must have to take with you to school is a makeup bag. This one with unicorns all over it is from Forever 21 and costs € 4,95. Femke wanted to buy this one for so long now, but she never got the time to go to the Forever 21. And Forever 21 sells many other cute makeup bags by the way.

A mirror is also a must for school. Femke has always one in her pencilcase, but you can also put one in your makeup bag. This one is from Forever 21 and costs € 2,95. And they sell them in all kinds of prints, but we really like this one.

This unicorn shaped sharpener is so beautiful! It's from H&M and costs € 4,99. 

Wow, these labels are gorgeous! You can buy them in H&M for € 4,99. 

In Dille & Kamille they sell lots of these notebooks in many different prints and colors for only € 2,25. And you always can use a noteebook at school. 

Aren't these things cute? We now it's all super girly, but well, that's what we like.
